Yesterday (September 20th) fans wondered if Drake is actually as big as Michael Jackson. Drizzy's latest album Certified Lover Boy spent its second week atop of the charts — the first rap album to do so this year.
One fan wrote “what is going through your mind that you gotta compare the michael jackson t drake.” Another person wrote, “Drake – Michael Jackson comparison is weird, MJ at his peak was the most famous person on earth. Drake isn't even the most famous person in america.”
According to Hot New Hip Hop, the comparison is actually not that far fetched. Putting nine songs in the top ten of Billboard's Hot 100 chart just last week, Drake broke Jackson's record of seven songs in the top ten, a record which had stood since the release of 1982's Thriller.
Drake also topped Jackson in a handful of other categories, too. Drake has ten #1 albums, and MJ has six. Drake has had 54 Top 10 singles while Jackson only recorded 30. And Drake also holds the records for most consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 with an astounding 431 weeks and the record for most Hot 100 entries ever, with 258.
MJ still has the most consecutive #1 singles and Thriller is the best selling album of all-time, moving over 100 million copies worldwide.
