Tory Lanez has been denied a motion to replace his current legal counsel.
According to legal journalist Meghann Canniff, a judge denied Ronda Renee Dixon as replacement counsel for Matthew Barhoma. Dixon would work under lead attorney, Jose Baez.
Dixon told Legal Affairs and Trials with Meghann Cuniff, “These guys are just taking advantage of Lanez. They’ve had him sign powers of attorneys. They’re acting on his behalf. … They’re not really asking him what he wants.”
Dixon also claims that the rapper is subject to cruel and unusual treatment in jail because of his celebrity status.
Lanez will officially be sentenced on August 7th. He is facing a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in prison for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion, as well as deportation to his native Canada.
